Myanmar man and mother held for burglary

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a Myanmar man and his mother believed to be involved in several cases of house burglaries around Ampang area near here.

Ampang Jaya deputy police chief Supt Nazri Nawawi said the man and his mother aged between 20 and 40’s were nabbed in a raid at a house in Lembah Maju, Ampang at 12.20pm on Monday.

He said in the raid, police seized goods valued at RM50,000 believed to be from house burglaries including 11 mobile phones, 13 watches, an IPOD, 20 necklaces and a bracelet as well as several pendrives and a broadband modem.

“Investigation found that the man, who is unemployed, has previous criminal records for snatch thefts and burglaries in Dang Wangi and Klang,” he told reporters here.

Nazri said initial urine screening on both suspects found the man to be positive for methamphetamine but the mother was negative for drugs.

In a separate case, two brothers in their 30’s were held when they tried to escape from a raid in Taman Tasik Tambahan, Ampang on Wednesday.

Nazri said in the raid at about 3.45pm, police seized a sharp piece of iron in the suspects’ house apart from several laptops and pendrives believed to be stolen.

He said both suspects had six previous criminal records involving vehicle thefts and drugs and they admitted to being involved in several criminal cases in the area including robberies.

He said they were also tested positive for ganja and were now under remand until Dec 25. — Bernama
