Bread and bun prices at prominent bakeries in KK up

KOTA KINABALU: A survey conducted around the State capital revealed that the prices of bread and buns sold at prominent bakeries had  increased.

A salesperson for one of the bakeries said most of the prices of cakes, bread and buns sold at the bakery where she worked at had been increased by 20 sen since August, this year.

Wholemeal bread at her workplace was sold at RM3.80 some months ago, but were now sold at RM4.00 per 400 grams.

So was the price of butter cheese bread, which used to be priced at RM4.60 per 400 grams.

The price of white toast bread remained unchanged at RM3.00 per 430grams, she said.

The prices of buns sold at the bakery had also increased by 20 sen, while cookies were up by 30 sen.

When asked if her salary as well as that of her peers were now exceeding RM800, she replied that that was the situation now at the place where she worked.

“Everyone is paid more than RM800 now.

“We were given a salary increase in October, two months after the prices of bread and buns were increased by 20 to 30 sen,” she said.

Another popular steam bun shop along Jalan Gaya however still maintained the prices of its buns at RM1 for black beans

buns and RM1.40 for pork, chicken and barbequed steam buns.
