KUCHING: A man who failed to settle his fine of RM1,000 for intimidating a woman early this month will be spending one month in jail.
A magistrates’ court here yesterday imposed the fine against one Basri Abdullah from Kampung Sadong at Jalan Batu Kawa after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
He admitted intimidating the woman Jerayah Suma, 42, with an axe and uttered “I will kill you” in a house at Kampung Sadong at about 11pm on Dec 20.
The custodial sentence was ordered to take effect immediatly. Criminal intimidation provided under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of seven years or fine.
