Iranian sentenced to death by hanging for drug trafficking

SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam High Court yesterday sentenced to death by hanging an Iranian trader after finding him guilty of trafficking 2.4 kg methamphetamine (syabu) mixed with some other substance and shaped to look like a tiger’s head.

It found Mohammaderfan Estiyagi Ahmad, 27, guilty of committing the offence at the arrival hall of the KL International Airport in Sepang at 11 am on Aug 2 last year.

Judge Datuk Abdul Rahman Sebli passed the sentence after the trial which heard the testimonies of six prosecution and one defence witnesses.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fuad Abdul Aziz appeared for the prosecution while Mohammaderfan was represented by lawyer Karpal Singh. — Bernama
