CAPS chief denies operating fun outlet without valid licence

KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday set January 8 next year for case management of an entertainment licence case involving the president of Consumers Affair and Protection Society of Sabah (CAPS).

Magistrate Herlina Muse set the date after James Baga @ Bagah, 53, pleaded not guilty to a charge of operating an entertainment outlet without a valid licence.

The cahrge under Section 3 of the Public Entertainment Ordinance (PEO) 1958 carries a maximum fine of RM5,000.

James allegedly committed the offence at Mansau-Ansau Cafe at Lot 12 Ground Floor, Light Industrial Shop House in New Penampang Township at about 1.20am on January 7, 2006.

The court granted him RM2,000 bail with two local sureties pending his trial.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted.
