BALIKPAPAN: East Kalimantan police chief Insp. Gen. Anas Yusuf has told his personnel to take advantage of technology and social networking to coordinate with colleagues throughout the nation, Jakarta Post reported.

“Information technology, including social networks, is really useful to monitor anything in the field. It can be used to coordinate with personnel in remote and border areas,” he said.

He added he had equipped his personnel in East Kalimantan with 24-hour internet facilities at an affordable cost of Rp 150,000 (US$15) a month.

Currently East Kalimantan Mobile Brigade uses Android smartphones to communicate with personnel in border areas.
