BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Public Works Department (PWD), through the Department of Roads, informs road users that part of the completed road along Jalan Residency will be opened at 9am today, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The opening of the road is to allow for upgrading works to be carried out on the old Jalan Residency route – from Taman Rekreasi Hutan Bukit Subok up to Balai Bomba Sungai Lampai. The upgrade is for the final scope of work for the widening ofJalan Residency, which is expected to be completed by the end of March.

The existing two lanes along Jalan Residency will be temporarily closed off, and the diversion will be opened for road users at the newly completed Jalan Residency stretch.

Over 400 car parking spaces including five for buses have been made available and open to the public. Approximately 100 parking spaces are targetted for completion by January 2013.

PWD also reminds motorists to park only at the parking spaces allocated and at the side of the road along the newly built section at Jalan Residency, as well as to follow the road safety signage in place.
