JERANTUT: A yoga instructor who went missing during a trekking trip to Gunung Benum last Sunday was found safe yesterday evening, police said.

Fong Ai Ting, 32, of Terengganu was found at about 4.30pm by personnel from the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks who had also joined the search for her, said Jerantut police chief Supt Azid Ismail.

Fong was in a group of 19 trekkers, comprising 11 men and eight women, from Kuala Lumpur.

“She was found in a confused state and was taken to the Jerantut Hospital for treatment. She is in good health,” Azid told reporters here.

Twenty-seven other people also took part in the search and rescue operation, with the use of two police helicopters.

“The area of search was widened to cover another four to five kilometres radius around the mountain, including a ravine and other jungle treks,” Azid
said.

The trekkers had started climbing the mountain at about 9.30am on Sunday at Lata Berembun, Jalan Sungai Chalit, Sungai Klau, near here.

Fong went missing as the group was coming down the mountain at about 9.30am on Tuesday. — Bernama
