IPOH: A police sergeant claimed trial at the Sessions Court here yesterday to three counts of corruption between 2011 and last year.

On the first charge, Md Hamdari Wakidi, 53, allegedly solicited RM3,000 from Zulkefli Mohamad in his office at the city police CID contingent about 10.30am, between Sept 26 and Sept 29 in 2011.

On the second charge, he is accused of receiving RM1,500 from the same individual near Restoran Tasneem Corner, Fair Park
here about 6.30pm on Nov 18 in the same year.

On the third count, the accused allegedly received RM1,500 from Zulkefli in the restaurant at  6.46pm on May 18, last year.

The money was allegedly an inducement to ‘close’ a molest case involving a restaurant operator who had been charged at the magistrate’s court here.

Judge Julie Lack Abdullah fixed Feb 18 for re-mention and set bail at RM4,000 in one surety for the three charges. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officer M Kathan prosecuted while counsel Mohd Shahrullah Khan Nawab Zadah Khan represented Md Hamdari. — Bernama
