SIBU: Police arrested a man and seized a two-foot knife from him last Friday after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and threatened her with a knife.

They picked up the 29-year-old at his workers’ quarters at a construction site in Rantau Panjang shortly after his girlfriend lodged a report at 8.30am.

The unmarried couple had been together since 2004 and was living together in the quarters along with their two children – a boy and a girl. The girlfriend, who is also 29, told police her partner (suspect) had changed recently as he beat her whenever he got drunk.

“He beat me and threatened me with a knife last Thursday when he came home drunk. He also threatened to electrocute our children,” she complained.

The woman took her son to  her father’s house, leaving her daughter with her boyfriend.

She only took her daughter away when police arrested him.

She had proposed marriage to him several times but he rejected her. Now she wants to leave him as she suspects he has a wife.
