SIBU: SUPP Sibu branch vice-chairman Daniel Ngieng is baffled by the sudden change in DAP’s party election results, saying it is beyond comprehension.

What was even more puzzling, he said, was how democracy could be manipulated by DAP to suit its political needs “which undermines its credibility and transparency.”

“More difficult to understand when they involve making one Malay leader to be in now after more than two weeks. DAP election committee has more questions to answer now.

“The twist of events create more suspicion than pacifying the Malays inside DAP,” Ngieng told The Borneo Post yesterday when asked on the party’s election fiasco.

According to media reports, DAP found itself navigating in the sea of criticism after admitting to a party polls mistake and then reinstating a Malay candidate to the last spot in its central executive committee (CEC).

Meanwhile, Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee asked: “Does the ubah slogan they are shouting mean ‘ubah’ result style?”

He mentioned that following the fiasco, the Peninsula-based opposition party had lost its credibility.

Dr Annuar asked further: “If they can’t manage 1,800 delegates, can we trust them to manage the country of 28 million people?”

Earlier, PBB supreme council member Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said DAP should first check their own party election before criticising others as there were so many fishy tales and stinky smell to clear.

“DAP being a party that claims to be most democratic, transparent and multi-racial is now a laughing stock with the ‘fishy’ party election,” he said.
