Top exponents from eight countries to compete in Perak Muaythai International Challenge

IPOH: The Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth movement and Perak Amateur Muaythai Association will organise the inaugural Perak Amanjaya International Muaythai Challenge in Ipoh on Jan 26.

Perak BN Youth chief Khairul Azwan Harun said the aim of organising the event was to promote combat sports as well as encourage youths to take part in healthy sporting activities like Muaythai.

“The event to be held on Jan 26, will feature participants from eight countries, namely Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, Russia, Colombia, Sweden, Peru, and Iran,” he told reporters here yesterday.

He said Malaysia would be sending five exponents, including three from Perak and led by Azman ‘Head Hunter’ who will fight for the Intercontinental belt against Brazil’s defending champion.

Two other Perak entries, Sayuti and Anas Dzakafi will feature in the ‘International Super Fight’ category while Terengganu’s Ali Yaakub will try to wrest the “Perak Amanjaya” title through the ‘Super 4’ category and captain Faizal Ramly takes part in the “Golden Elbow Muaythai Challenger” category, he said.

The event sanctioned by the World Muaythai Council received support from the state government, state sports council and Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh, he said. — Bernama
