KUCHING: A proprietor of a construction company was fined RM20,000 in default three months’ jail by the Sessions Court here yesterday after pleading guilty to having no work permit and approval from Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

A representative of Tetuan Nyan Sin Construction Enterprise Sdn Bhd pleaded guilty to doing work at the proposed four-storey shop at Jalan Astana here about 10.30am on May 4 last year.

The company was only a sub contractor for the construction project.

The offence is listed under Section 25(1) of the Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994.

The brief fact of the case stated that CIDB officers had gone to the construction site to make an inspection.

What they found was that the company was never a registered company with the CIDB system and also had never obtained any approval from the board to do any construction work.

The company paid the fine.
