KUCHING: Sarawak Football Development Programme (SFDP) had shortlisted 67 young footballers from all over the state for selection of trainees in Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) Elite Football Centres.
The shortlisted youngsters were identified during SFDP’s statewide talent scouting held last year and despite not making it into the President’s Cup or other youth football teams, they (players) can still have a shot at their dreams.
Not wanting to see their talents to go to waste, SFDP project manager Lucas Kallang Laeng said once selected, only 40 will get to join the elite centers to be set up in Southern Zone and Northern Zone.
“Thirty five players were identified from the Southern Zone which include areas in Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong and Sarikei while the rest are from the Northern Zone,” he said.
“We hope to find more players for the state Sukma team…this is one of the main purpose of this programme,” said Lucas on the coming selection to be held at Telekom Training Centre football field of Jalan Sultan Tengah for the Southern Zone on Jan 16.
Selection for the Northern Zone will be held on Jan 28 at PETRONAS Sports Village, Miri.

“Registration for the Southern Zone on Jan 16 is from 2pm to 4am while for the Northern Zone, it is on Jan 28 from 2pm to 4pm,” said Lucas who will accompany SFDP director and former state football chief coach, Alan Vest.
The players selected for the Southern Zone selection are namely Velentino Mesly, Benedict Guan, Eric Adyson Sia, Azeri Azizan Othman, Muhd Faruddin Faiz, Mohd Nurzuafirin Zulkifli, Harris Lilon, Nasyirat Mustaqim, Mohd Faridzuan Sebi, Mohd Asri Khamis, Mohd Fiqri Roslee, Hafizulhisyam Roslee, Roland Apong, Max Fareezan Lidin, Mohd Zubir, Mohd Isa, Hazeri Saat, Aielddy Edmond Arisandy, Awang Dabidee Awang Yusuf, Jekim Jotiam, Allester Ali, Wellington Jack, Mark Randy Thoney, Lawrence Phillip Taoh, Florian Rison Laos, Guinise Thian, Abdul Redzuan Abdul Ghani, Boniface Chap, Alex Kamba, Jubin Baling, Stallone Ulis, Muhammad Asraf Talip, Boniface Bangga Majid, Willy Jelaing, Fezroy Beji and David Bantan Nanta.
