TAWAU: The Lahad Datu district, with a population of about 300,000, is undergoing rapid development under the government led by the Barisan Nasional (BN), said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department, Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur.

He said various development projects whether in the form of basic infrastructure, industries, social or educational, were being implemented to mobilise further economic and social development activities to bring prosperity to the people.

“The RM12 million Lahad Datu Sports Complex is now under construction and expected to be ready in July this year. This is our election pledge and we take pride that we have fulfilled our pledge,” said Datu Nasrun when interviewed in the Tawaufm Radio programme ‘Bersama YB’.

In addition, he said, the government had also approved the construction of a secondary religious school in the district.

“I am also discussing with the government to build a new water treatment plant in Lahad Datu to complement the existing two treatment plants namely the Sepagaya and Sungai Segama treatment plants to cater for the increasing demand for water,” said Datu Nasrun, who is also the State Assemblyman for Lahad Datu. — Bernama
