KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty-nine photographs captured by nine underprivileged children from Sri Aman, Sarawak are on display and sale at NN gallery, Ampang in a bid to raise fund for SK Tanjung Bijat photography programme.

The “Youth Lens Sarawak: My World through My Eyes” launched by a non-government organisation, Voice of Children (VoC), was part of a photography project for the children to take photographs of nature and people in their community.

VoC manager Millicent Bogert told Bernama that the event was aimed at getting the photographs sold and to raise more money for more of such programmes at the school.

“We are selling the photographs from RM500 each, and we hope to make at least RM10,000 from the exhibition,” she said.

Bogert said the programme also gave rare opportunity for the children in that area to experience learning beyond the classroom.

“They are given the chance to explore their world through camera lenses and express their words in the pictures,” she said. — Bernama
