Applicants can raise loans from other financial institutions

IPOH: Applicants for the Skim Rumah Mesra Rakyat under the auspices of Syarikat Perumahan Nasional Bhd (SPNB) can obtain loans from CIMB Bank, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, Malayan Banking Bhd and Bank Rakyat Bhd beginning this year.

Chairman Datuk Idris Haron said the application process for the scheme would differ as the terms and conditions for application was set by SPNB and the commercial banks.

“He said banks and SPNB would decide on an applicant’s eligibility and one’s financial standing should be better than before when the scheme was handled by SPNB,” he told reporters at an SPNB event.

Idris said those blacklisted under the Credit Tip-Off Service Sdn Bhd (CTOS) and the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) would not be eligible for any loan.

“Banks will only grant loans to a blacklisted applicant after he clears his status with CTOS and CCRIS. If a bank grants loans to blacklisted applicants, they are flouting Bank Negara’s regulation,” he added.

Idris also said the application process now was not difficult but SPNB was very stringent with applicants who should have a clean financial standing.

SPNB will build 11,800 units under the scheme beginning in Tambun. — Bernama
