GADONG: In Conjunction with the 42nd anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Military Cadet, a thanksgiving ceremony was held at the ASMDB Parade Field, Rimba Gadong Camp yesterday morning, Borneo Bulletin reported.
A total of 132 army cadets from secondary schools, colleges and institutes of higher education attended the event. The guest of honour was the Acting Vice Chancellor of Institut Teknologi Brunei, Associate Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah bte Haji Sulaiman.
In her speech, Associate Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah said the Cadet Force was established to uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy, forming a physical strength and a healthy mind for students in training to be independent and instilling the spirit of teamwork with an extensive knowledge of the RBAF.
Since its establishment on January 9, 1971, a total of 35 Secondary Schools, Colleges and Institutes of Higher Education have registered and are recognised as military cadet corps in Brunei Darussalam.
