SIBURAN: SPDP Veteran, marshalled by six ex-state players, is the favourite to win the Veteran’s category at the SPDP Football Championship final on Jan 27.

Team manager and chairman of SPDP Tarat branch Captain Miron Ganguly said he is confident that they could clinch the veteran’s title this year.

“I am glad that this team of mine have qualified for the finals in this year’s edition of the competition,” he said. The six former state players in SPDP Veteran team are Ramles Sari, his twin brother Ramos Sari, Bobby Pian, Louis Jakai, Petrus Lassek and Tader Mogig.

SPDP Veteran will square off with ATM in the final.

Meanwhile in the Open Category, Policia Fys and Pesaka 16 will battle it out in the final.

Pesaka 16 booked their place in the final after defeating Crocs Comel 5-3 on penalties in the semi final.

Policia Fys lived up to their reputation as tournament favourites with an easy 4-1 victory over Mambong FC in the other semi final yesterday.

Both the Veteran and Open finals will be played at the Padawan Sports Complex on Jan 27. Kick off is 2pm for the Veteran final to be followed by the Open final.
