SAPP Youth members support the party contest in Sandakan.

SANDAKAN: Sandakan SAPP Youth strongly echoed the stand made by SAPP KK Zone that the leadership of the party must not bow down to any pressure made by other opposition components to join any coalition.

SAPP must be resilient being one of the seven party values, and should uphold its integrity, its Sandakan Zone Youth EXCO Shahrizan bin Jainal said.

“As the only local based party in Sabah, we are legitimate to contest more majority seats to ensure that Sabah gain its autonomy and restore the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he said.

Shahrizan reviewed that the Batu Sapi by-election was the turning point for the members, especially the youths who reorganized their structure when SAPP had lost in 2010. The members became more resilient and determined.

He pointed out the youths have not lost their direction since then but are getting stronger. Citing example, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang also lost his Bukit Bendera seat in 1999 and Khalid Ibrahim of PKR during Ijok by-election in 2007.

The youths, he added, have been aggressively campaigning from house to house to explain to the people the party’s manifesto.

“We have received a good response and ready to contest the Sandakan parliamentary and three states seats, including Tanjung Papat and Elopura under Datuk Raymond Tan and Au Kam Wah respectively who had left SAPP,” he said.

However, the Sandakan youths would leave it to the party leadership to decide if all negotiations failed to materialize, he said.

Shahrizan stated this when welcoming Jelajah Bangunlah Untuk Sabah convoy teams phase two led by John Stephen Dionysius who is also the KK Zone Coordinator Youth chief together with Karambunai Youth chief Mohd Suppian Saprin.

Also present were Sandakan Zone vice chairman Yong Chie Man, treasurer Yong Vui Min and Sandakan Zone Youth committee.
