Contract worker pleads not guilty to hurting wife

KANGAR: A contract worker pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court here yesterday to a charge of voluntarily hurting his wife with dangerous weapons early this month.

Kamaruddin Hassan, 41, is charged with voluntarily causing hurt on Anira Aziz, 27, by hitting her with a picture frame, knife and a stone mortar at about 4am on last Jan 5 at an unnumbered house in Kampung Repoh Seberang Sungai.

The charge, under Section 324 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum imprisonment for three years or fine or whipping or any two of such punishments.

Magistrate Zuhair Rosli allowed Kamaruddin, represented by lawyer Rabiatul Adawiyah Ramli, bail of RM2,500 in one surety and set Feb 28 for mention.
