KUALA LUMPUR: All Barisan Nasional (BN) district polling centres must open their operations room by Feb 1, said BN Publicity and Information Bureau chairman Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

He said this was in line with the Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s directive in preparation for the 13th general election.

“This means that BN component parties have two weeks to prepare their operation rooms either by renting or using their own premises,” he told reporters after visiting BN polling district operation rooms in the Ampang and Pandan parliamentary constituencies here yesterday.

Ahmad, who is also Umno information chief, said the operation rooms should be equipped with the BN and party flags and information on voters, and filled with daily activities.

He said the BN would have 7,531 operation rooms nationwide, some of them had already been opened.

Earlier, Ahmad gave away essential items from 1Malaysia Shops to 150 people with disabilities, single mothers and the needy in the Ampang and Pandan constituencies. — Bernama
