KOTA KINABALU: A human foetus that had not fully developed was yesterday found in a glass jar at a garbage disposal centre at Block 5, Api-Api Centre here.

A 50-year-old cleaner who identified herself as Rosni said she found the foetus while she was taking rubbish to be disposed of at the centre about 10am.

“I noticed something suspicious in the glass jar just as I was throwing some rubbish. I then picked up the jar and was shocked to find a foetus,” she said when met at the scene.

Forensic police with the foetus.

Rosni said she immediately informed her manager, who then called the police.

Meanwhile, city police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun, who confirmed the discovery, said investigation was being carried out.

“The foetus has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem. Anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist us in our investigation,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
