BENTONG: The magistrates’ court yesterday fixed Feb 7 for the remention of a serial rape case, involving a man who is accused of raping and murdering a teenage girl in Kampung Ketari here, in March 2009.

Magistrate Nurliyana Ismail set the date after being informed by the representative of prosecuting officer, Insp Aiman Fikri Kwee, that the investigation paper was still being checked by the Prosecution Unit Head before being transferred to the High Court.

On Dec 12 last year, Rabidin Satir, 42, was charged in the High Court with the murder of Annie Kok Yin Cheng, 17, at Lot 4168 Kampung Ketari between 11.30pm March 7 and 1.50pm March 8, 2009.

The unemployed accused, from Sabah, was also charged with raping the victim and causing her death at the same time and place, for which he faces the death sentence or up to 30 years in prison and a minimum of 10 strokes of the whip, upon conviction under the Penal Code.

Rabidin faced an additional five charges for rape at the Raub Sessions Court on Dec 12 last year.

He pleaded guilty to the first charge, before Judge Murtazadi Amran, for raping a nine-year-old child at a house in Taman Sri Marong here, on July 9, 2009.

However, he claimed trial to the other four charges, under Section 376(2)(e) and 377 (C) of the Penal Code for rape and sodomy, all punishable by a minimum of five to 30 years in prison and whipping, upon conviction.

The charges involve raping an eight-year-old and a teenager, 17, and raping and sodomising a 16-year-old, between June 21, 2010 and Oct 12, 2011 at separate locations around Bentong. — Bernama
