First Sabahan for development plan to be GM

KOTA KINABALU: Vivian Chu, the executive assistant manager of Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo, became the first Sabahan to be selected to participate in Accor Group’s GM Pass Asia Program.

GMPass Asia Program is a 12-month personal development plan aiming to prepare a few selected managers within Asia for a future as general manager.

There will be a list of recommended projects, assignments, on-the-job experiences and training programs to develop the skills and advancement based on Accor Asia General Manager key competencies.

Jacques Leizerovici, general manager of Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneom, said Vivian had proven herself to be highly passionate about the hotel industry and her 13 years of hotel experience certainly made her an asset to Novotel.

“We’re confident Vivian’s remarkable leadership skills will reinforce and strengthen her competencies while undertaking the development program,” he said.

The hotel has also trained, recognized and promoted four other Sabahans to executive level who are now heading the departments.

A native of Kota Kinabalu, Vivian joined Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo in 2009. Prior to her appointment, she was director of sales at The Empire Hotel & Country Club Brunei Darussalam and sales manager at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai. She also held a position at 1Borneo Management Corporation as deputy director centre management/retail director.
