BINTULU’S NEW LANDMARK: The RM200 million mall is expected to be fully completed in 2018 while the shophouses are now open for booking.

BINTULU: Bintulu City Mall will be among the new shopping malls to be established in the town.

It is expected to be fully completed in 2018.

The project, costing RM200 million, will be developed by PRC Development Sdn Bhd and constructed in a mix development zone consisting of 64 units of three-storey shophouses, a nine-storey hotel and shopping mall together with two high-rise condominiums sitting on the top of the mall.

According to its executive director Philip Wong Pak Ming, the development of the mall will be divided into four phases. Its construction will start in March.

In Phase 1 and 2 64 units of shophouses will be built, while in phase 3 the construction of the hotel will commence. The shopping mall (5,000 sq) and condominium will be built in phase 4.

“The mall is very centrally located and it is accessible by either Jalan Sebiew or Jalan Tun Husesein Onn which are the main arteries of Bintulu.

“The locality is surrounded by Taman Sion Boon, Sample Park, Taman Kemena Raya, Taman Tinggi, Taman Bandar Jaya, Pearl Garden, SMK Bandar Bintulu and SMK Bintulu,” he said adding that Hock Peng’s 34  shophouses and two-storey supermarket are located nearby.

He said phase 1 involving 32 units of shophouses has been sold out.

Meanwhile, shophouses in phase 2 (32 units) are now open for sale with prices ranging from RM1,288,000 to RM2,288,000.

“The potential of Bintulu is just too great to miss. We hope potential buyers of our shophouses will come in full force to grab the few remaining units we have,” said Wong adding they are anticipating a rental return of not less than five per cent per annum.
