KUCHING: A man lodged a report against his wife after learning she had run off with another man on Friday, taking along jewellery and his bank account books.

The incident was discovered around 6am when the husband, in his 30s, woke up to find his wife no longer in bed with him.
Upon checking with his father-in-law, he learned that she had fled the house in their car and was planning to fly to Kuala Lumpur later that afternoon with a male acquaintance.

He found that his wife had taken along his bank account booklets along with RM40,000 worth of gold jewellery.

In an unrelated matter, a businessman suffered substantial losses after thieves broke into his house and carted away numerous electronic gadgets on Thursday.

The 51-year-old discovered the break-in when he arrived home at Sungai Maong Tengah around 9.30pm to see the front door had been forcibly opened.

A check revealed the thieves had made off with four laptop computers, an LCD television, mobile phones, a digital camera and several other miscellaneous items.

Police are investigating after the victim lodged a report of the break-in.
