KUALA LUMPUR: Plantronics, a global company in audio communications for business and consumers, has added the new Voyager Legend and Marque 2 headsets to its communications devices line-up.

Voyager Legend is the newest headset in the award-winning ‘Voyager’ family which delivers unsurpassed audio clarity and all-day comfort for the mobile professional.

The Marque 2 is the perfect companion for smartphone enthusiasts with dual microphones that minimise noise and wind for clear conversation. Plantronics pioneered the lightweight headset, mobile headset, noise-cancelling technology and personal speakerphone.

“Few technology companies continue to deliver communication devices that inroduce new innovations year after year,” Alvin Kiew, Director of sales and marketing for Plantronics Southeast Asia, told Bernama.

Kiew said the team’s expertise in human behaviour and anatomy, ergonomics, colour, proportion and complex surface development, converge in the design of advanced products that look beautiful and become extensions of the body.

Plantronics design has achieved international acclaim including the iF Design and CES Innovation awards and continues to pioneer new trends.

“Our solid heritage in audio communications since the days of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and space travel to the rigorous demands in enterprise call centres, and the mobile needs of our consumers, means that our research and development efforts are relentless, meticulous and visionary,”
he said.

Kiew said Voyager Legend is protected against damage from moisture with an invisible P2i coating on every surface of the product, causing liquid to bead up and run off the headset instead of permeating electrical components.

The invisible P2i coating, originally designed to tread soldiers’ uniforms as protection from environmental and chemical hazards, has a thickness equivalent to one thousand human hair.

“In the technologically-empowered ecosystem in Malaysia, where mobility and clear audio are paramount, we are confident the Plantronics Voyager range of Bluetooth headsets will reach many corporate offices, small office home offices (SOHOs) and individual professional users demanding the best in mobile audio communications,” he said.

In addition, Mobile apps such as “Find MyHeadset” enables a user to find their misplaced headset by sending it a tone so that users can hear where it is located.

If the headset is out of Bluetooth range or is powered off, then the Backtrack activity log that maps where it was last in use, helps to trace where it may have been placed, Kiew said.

“Find MyHeadset” has been named an International CES Innovations 2013 Honoree for the Software and Mobile Applications category in the International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards.

Meanwhile, the Marque 2 is Plantronics’ smallest and lightest weight headset.

“It lets you listen to music or stream audio and internet radio while managing calls without pressing buttons – just say ‘answer’ or ‘ignore’,” he said.

Despite its diminutive size at only seven grammes, the Marque 2 comes in stylish matte black or white and features dual microphones, which provides clear and crisp call quality.

Moving forward, Kiew said customers can expect to see more integration of sensors, software and contextual intelligence in Plantronics products.

Further localisation of products and enhanced accessories for an even more seamless and intuitive experience when using a Plantronics headset are also in progress.

With the growth of BYOD (bring your own device) and mobile office for the enterprise space, Plantronics will further empower the mobile professional with seamless connectivity to personal computers, smartphones and tablets, he said.

Kiew said Plantronics continue to make a committed effort to understand the needs and demands of the market and introduce products that would serve those communities well in light of specific regulatory, infrastructural and business environments.
