JOHOR BAHARU: Johor police believe they have crippled a drug trafficking and processing syndicate with the arrest of six suspects and seizing drugs worth RM1 million after raiding a drug processing laboratory in Plentong, here, Monday night.

Johor Baharu Selatan police chief ACP Zainuddin Yaacob said the six suspects, believed to be members of the ‘Chandra’ gang and aged between 26 and 50, were detained at about 3.45pm in a warehouse.

“Police found 27kg of ketamin, four grams of heroin, 43 grams syabu and 63 ecstasy pills in the warehouse,” he told reporters at the Johor Baharu Selatan police headquarters here yesterday.

Zainuddin said police also found 100 live bullets (9mm and .45mm), a police vest, RM14,000 cash, weighing scale, a burner and a Toyota Hilux car in the premises.

He said police were tracking down the owner of the weapon that could have been used for criminal activities since last year.

Five of the six suspects tested positive for drugs while three had previous criminal records for drug related offences, robbery and house break-ins.

“We (Police) believe the drugs were distributed in the city as well as meant for international market. — Bernama
