PBB Youth leader ‘thankful’ for report on plot to topple Taib

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth vice-president Pandi Suhaili ‘thanked’ Sarawak Report for its online report on a conspiracy to topple Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

He said that the report was a pack of lies, adding that instead of creating turmoil in PBB,
it had rallied party members and the people in general behind Taib.

In his text message yesterday, Pandi pointed out that it was a known fact that Sarawak Report was an ‘enemy’ to Taib and Barisan Nasional (BN) and the people in the state were well aware of its stand .

He was responding to Sarawak Report on Sunday, disclosing that it received an explosive dossier from sources close to Taib detailing a powerful conspiracy to depose him at the next PBB party convention, due in May.

The report also alleged that the high-level conspirators led by Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan would maintain a pretence of unity during the coming
general election, expected in March, but had collected enough supporters, including Taib’s own family members to oust him in May.

Pandi stressed that the news portal, despite claiming to be professional, had failed miserably in being fair and transparent in its reports.

“Whatever is written (reported) in Sarawak Report (SR) has only one motive; to help PAS, DAP and PKR.”

Pandi added that SR had on many occasions in the past written unfounded stories about individuals who were close to Taib.

“So the report has the intention to create tension between Taib and the people mentioned (in the report),” he said.

Pandi also called on BN component parties to carry out their own in-house investigations to ensure there was no back-stabbing among party members to topple BN.
