Youth in possession of two other individuals’ IC pleads not guilty

MIRI: A jobless youth pleaded not guilty to possession of the identity cards (ICs) of two other individuals in the magistrate’s court yesterday.

Alexson Sanggau, 25, from Bandar Baru Permyjaya was charged under Section (25)(o) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (Amendment 2001) and punishable under Section 25K(1) of the same regulations.

He is liable to a jail sentence not exceeding three years or fine of not less than RM3,000 and not exceeding RM20,000 or both upon conviction for each offence.

The accused was found with two Mykad belonging to Suzane Tunggang and Nyadang Ngu without their consent.

He allegedly committed the offences in the investigation room at the Central Police Station here at 3.30pm on Jan 11.

After listening to his plea of not guilty, the court fixed March 5 for further mention.

For the meantime, the accused was released on RM2,500 bail in two local sureties pending the hearing.

He also faces another offence under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft.

If found guilty, he could face a maximum 14 years’ imprisonment or fine or both.

In the first case Alexson broke into the house of Nuruhuda Abdul Rahim at Lot 10004, Jalan Granit off Jalan Lutong, Kampung Merikan at 7.30am on Nov 8 last year.

He was released on RM2,500 bail in two local sureties pending mention on March 5.

he failed to pay the bail, so was further detained at Lambir Central Prison while awaiting the hearing.
