PAPAR: The outstanding performances of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Kota Kinabalu and Kolej Keris Mas Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), should enable them to further extend their existing collaboration to other fields.

Deputy health minister, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, in saying this, added that each institution has proven its worth and abilities to train and educate the younger generation to meet the market demand.

“I also believe that the Kem Jejak Universiti, or Keju in short, should be carried out for a longer period, may be to between three to five years. Who knows this programme could be the stepping stone for both institutions to achieve greater success in the future,” she said, when launching the closing ceremony on the Program Keju, here, yesterday.

She also congratulated MRSM Kota Kinabalu for elevating the the school to a Smart School level.

Rosnah said, the Smart School status proves that MRSM Kota Kinabalu has fulfilled one of the qualities, be it in the average school grade points, co-curriculum, students’ leadership, and school administration efficiency, to mention some.

“I believe and trust the selection of MRSM Kota Kinabalu as a Smart School is appropriate and hopefully they would continue to strive harder for better performances, not just in schools, but also nationally and internationally.

“In fact, I am confident that the children today will be able to shape a brighter future. It is my hope that students will not fail their parents and teachers, and accept the challenges today as motivations to reach greater heights,” she said.

Rosnah, who is also the national Puteri Umno head, also advised Form Five students not underestimate the modules used throughout the Program Keju, but instead to utilise it wisely.

She believes that if the modules are utilised well, it would bring about positive impact to MRSM Kota Kinabalu that would eventually be their recipe to success.

“I was also made to understand that the programme has lined up strategies to meet the key performance index (KPI), so it is hoped that all involved would play their role to ensure that the aims and objectives are met, she said.
