Lecture on ‘China Business Culture, Legal Policy’ at Curtin

MIRI: Curtin Sarawak Research Institute will host a public lecture on ‘China Business Culture and Legal Policy’ at 5pm on Jan 30.

It will be held in the university’s Council Room located on the first floor of the Heron 1 building.

The lecture is targeted at those interested to start a business in China, or those who would like to know more about the business climate in that country.

Delivering the lecture will be Professor John Gong from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing. The university is one of the top universities in the fields of economics, finance, management, law and research in China.

The lecture will cover an overview of China’s changing business environment and legal policies, focusing on private companies that are not under state control as well as identify the 30 most successful companies in China.

A prolific researcher and writer, Professor Gong graduated from the University of Texas, USA and went on to work at the Applied Research Lab at Bell Communications Research as a research scientist for over seven years.

Subsequently, he was appointed senior advisor of Strategic Assessment at Cable Television Laboratories Inc and held the position for seven years.

He has contributed to a list of publications in leading international academic journals and was the executive editor of the Journal of Chinese Economic and Foreign Trade Studies published in the United Kingdom.

Professor Gong also played an important contributing role in former United States vice-president Al Gore’s National Informational Infrastructure project.

Members of the public as well as staff and students of Curtin Sarawak are welcome to attend.
