MIRI:  The Marudi and Telang Usan branches of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) are gearing up for upcoming 13th General Election.

Senator Lihan Jok who chaired a meeting attended by Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau , Political Secretary to Chief Minister Robert Laing and executive members of both branches here yesterday said, “After this meeting we want both branches and sub-branches of the party to reactivate all the machineries with adjustment to some of the strategies.”

Disclosing this to The Borneo Post after the meeting, Lihan said the party would support any candidate under Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket for the Baram parliamentary seat.

Lihan admitted that Baram was still quite far behind in development and progress particularly in its infrastructure and basic amenities compared to other areas in the state as the constituency was under an independent Member of Parliament for some time.

However, there had been a lot of progress in the area after Barisan Nasional wrested the seat from the independent MP.

“We must admit that it takes time for Baram to catch up with other areas in the state. Although there are a lot of development programmes and activities implemented by the government due to its size, the results can be hardly seen and felt by the people,” said Lihan in dismissing the allegation that Baram have been neglected by the government.

He urged PBB branches to work with other component parties to refute the allegation made by the opposition.
