Clean up electoral rolls – SAPP

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth is demanding the Election Commission clean up and update the electoral rolls which will be used in the coming general election.

Its KK Zone Youth chief, John Stephen Dionysius, made the call following the testimonies of witnesses called by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrant issues in Sabah.

John said a few individuals had come forward to make confessions, including a Filipino who said he had voted five times in the previous elections.

He said the NRD and EC had been silent since the revelation at RCI.

The Election Commission should listen to the people’s grievances that they want a clean and fair election, John added.

Meanwhile, SAPP Youth will stage a peaceful gathering in coming weeks to demand the Election Commission act immediately to clean up the electoral lists before the general election.
