Continue supporting BN if I am not contesting – Anifah

KOTA KINABALU: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has impressed on his supporters to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional (BN), even if he is not fielded in the coming general election.

“It is not important if I’m nominated or not, (it) doesn’t matter who is the BN candidate, we give our support,” the Kimanis member of parliament told his constituents during a dinner here on Monday.

Anifah said the people of Kimanis appreciated the contribution and commitment of BN in bringing about development and improving the livelihood of Malaysians.

The voters in the constituency, he added, were grateful for the numerous development and progress they have enjoyed under the caring governance of BN since almost 50 years ago.

“In the past half decade, BN has been kind and concerned about the people and brought to us continuous prosperity. Our children, many are highly educated now, have become doctors and lawyers.

“So, why change what is already good. What we should focus on is to further improve what we have, not to be persuaded by the opposition to risk what we have for what they promise, which we all know they could never really give,” he said.

Unlike Pakatan Rakyat, who is only good at making impossible promises, he said BN was practical and realistic and more importantly sincere and committed in planning and implementing development for the people.

He said one of the priorities of BN after the coming elections was to further improve public facilities and infrastructures, especially the road network in both the urban and rural areas of Sabah.

At the event, he also announced a special welfare fund of RM50,000 for Kimanis voters residing outside the district.

“As the elected representatives, we try to do as much as we can for our constituents but sometimes we forget that we also have voters who are residing outside their own voting constituency due to work.

“These outside voters are sometimes overlooked because inadvertently we don’t even realize they exist until somebody points them out to us. So, this allocation is a small gesture to show that they too are entitled to our services,” he said.

Anifah also announced another RM50,000 allocation to help students from the low income group in Kimanis.
