TAWAU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is confident of retaining Merotai seat in the 13th General Election through the support of the community and collaboration among members of the party.

However, Assistant Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming said the party members should not be complacent and over confident.

“We have to work even harder to achieve a bigger victory which will ensure continuous development in the area,” said Pang when speaking at a two-day workshop for Village Development and Security Committee chairmen and village chiefs from the constituency.

Pang urged the grassroots leaders to continue playing their role instead of being comfortable and take victory for granted.

“We are ready to compete and workshops that we attended have consolidated our preparation to serve the people,” he said recently.

Pang added the joint workshop was instrumental in many aspects such as recognizing problems, planning and handling tasks in election other than fostering a close relationship among the leaders in attendance.

The workshop held on January 26 and 27 at a resort in Balung was attended by nearly 50 participants.

Pang also urged participants to focus on the people’s problems even though it may be a small problem because it is their responsibility to accept and work towards solving it.
