Sultan of Johor criticises parties for negative comments on police

JOHOR BAHARU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar yesterday criticised those who alleged the police could not be trusted.

He said such allegations did not make sense and was very extreme.

“Such statements are only made by criminals, as they twist the facts and blame the laws to escape punishment,” he said when opening the Kulaijaya police headquarters here yesterday.

Also present were the Sultan’s wife, Tuanku Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah; Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris; Tunku Temenggong of Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar, Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Ismail Omar; Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar and Johor police chief, Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff.

The Sultan said, every policeman was trained and equipped with knowledge to enforce the law.

He praised the Johor police for improving security in the state and giving consideration to the sensitivities of the communities, as well as economic interests. — Bernama
