KUCHING: A habitual offender was sentenced to nine months in jail for possessing a stolen Honda Civic car early this month.

Magistrate Maris Agan imposed the sentence on Muammar Gaddafi Malik, 24 after he pleaded guilty to the charge listed under Section 411 of the Penal Code yesterday. Muammar was previously sentenced to a few years’ jail for similar offence.

Gaddafi, from Kampung Tabuan Foochow here, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at a house in Taman Duranda Emas about 5.20pm on Jan 9.

In the same court room, Gaddafi was also slapped with a RM500 fine in default one month in jail for committing criminal trespassing into a house near the Mile 3 Bazaar here on the same day he committed the first offence.

He admitted to have entered the house without the knowledge of the owner at 8.15am on Jan 9. Magistrate Agan convicted him of the charge read under Section 447 of the Penal Code.

Gaddafi entered the house and took away a luggage belonging to the family before taking off with a Toyota Corolla car.

He was, however, arrested not far from the house with help from the members of the public.

Inspector Yunus Sahak prosecuted in both cases.
