KUCHING: Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Eastern Alliance Trading Co (EM) Sdn Bhd handed over contributions to four welfare organisations in the state.

The cash contributions were collected from the MMS (multimedia messaging system) competition held by the two companies in conjunction with Christmas last year.

The contribution was presented by Celcom Sarawak regional sales manager Doris Ting to representatives of the four organisations namely Dyslexia Association Kuching, Salvation Army, Kuching Autistic Association and the Sarawak Children Cancer Society (SCCS) at Celcom headquarters at Jalan Tun Jugah here.

Earlier in her speech, Ting said as Christmas focused on sharing and caring, for the past six years the company has taken the initiative to set up a Christmas tree to liven up the celebration in the city.

“In 2012, Celcom introduced the MMS competition for the public particularly Celcom users who had the opportunity to win attractive prizes in addition to their contributions.

“Each MMS received was contributed to the four selected welfare organisations whereas the three best MMS senders received prizes sponsored by Celcom in collaboration with Eastern Alliance,” she said.

For every MMS received in the competition, it was charged 30 sen and within the short period of the competition, Celcom successfully collected around RM800.

Ting also noted that Celcom hoped to continue its endeavours in such programmes in the near future as part of its corporate social responsibility in addition to its business activities.

The event also saw Ting alongside Eastern Alliance business marketing manager Malcolm Teo Cho Heng presenting prizes to two of the three winners of the competition.
