Drug trafficking suspects remanded

KUCHING: A 39-year-old unemployed man has been remanded for six days to facilitate police investigation into a drug trafficking case.

Three other men aged 36, 39 and 47, believed to be his accomplices are remanded for three days.

A police team raided a store of a workshop at Jalan Kampung Sudat about 11.30pm on Wednesday and found four men inside.

A body search of the first suspect found drugs inside a sling bag he was carrying and inside his pocket.

The drug, believed to be Ketamine, was found inside seven plastic packets weighing 49.50gm and another 7.3gm in three
plastic tubes inside a candy canister.

Also 25 tablets believed to be ecstasy pills were found inside four different plastic packs and a crystal clear substance in three straw tubes, believed to be ecstasy powder, were also found.

Also found on the suspect were 10 aluminum foil packets containing 88 tablets believed to be Eramin 5.

Another 9.31gm of cannabis and 0.75gm of Ketamine were collected from several places inside the store.

The first suspect being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 39A(1) of the same act.

As for his accomplices, they are investigated under Section 39A(1)and Section 12(2) of the drug act.

Police initial investigation also revealed that all the suspects were positive drugs after a urine test was conducted on them.

Counsel Lim Lian Kee represented all the suspects in the court yesterday.
