Lawas sports meet attract 31 contingents

ATTENTIVE: A section of the 31 contingents which took part in the recent Lawas Primary School Sports Meet held Lawas Sports Complex. Member of Parliament for Lawas, Datuk Henry Sum Agong who officiated the opening ceremony commended the organisers for attracting good response towards the meet.

LAWAS: A total of 650 athletes from 31 contingents took part in this year’s Lawas Primary Schools Sports Meet which was held at Lawas Sports Complex recently.

Member of Parliament for Lawas, Datuk Henry Sum Agong who officiated the opening ceremony and also announced an allocation of RM 8,000 for the meet and RM 5,000 for the district headmasters’ council.

He gave the thumbs up to the meet which was aimed to select representatives who will spearhead Lawas’ challenge in the upcoming inter-division competition.

He also commended the performance of the march-pass by the respective contingents this year and congratulated the teachers and their staff of the education department for their hard work in making the meet a success.

SK Siang Siang won the top prize in the contingent march pass competition.

Earlier on Lawas District Offier Awang Ibrahim bin Ahmad said Lawas is aiming at dethroning Limbang at the divisional level.

Awang also hoped for the event to become a good avenue for the local students to take up sports and games in their extra-curricular activities.

Present during the function were heads of government departments, parents and members of the public who travelled all the way from Ba’ kelalan, Long Semadoh and interior of Lawas.
