PUTRAJAYA: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said a letter purportedly from the National Registration Department (NRD) ordering all uncollected identification cards (IC) be sent to Sabah was fake.
He said the NRD had never sent a letter asking uncollected ICs be sent anywhere and deemed such an action as politically inclined to tarnish the name of the country, especially when the general election is near.
He said NRD director-general Datuk Jariah Mohd Said will lodge a police report today on the matter.
“It is a fake letter and the accusation is false,” he told reporters at the 2012 Immigration Day celebrations at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here yesterday. — Bernama
