MIRI: The distribution for 1Malaysia People Assistance (BR1M) 2.0 to the first batch of recipients this year at Miri Civic Centre went smoothly yesterday.

Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin said the first batch consisted of a total 16,237 recipients.

“Out of the total number, some 4,802 recipients were from Piasau constituency, Pujut constituency (3,042) and Senadin constituency (8,393),” he said to media when he visited Miri Civic Centre yesterday.

Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said the distribution of the one-off RM500 aid for the first batch, which started yesterday and would end on Feb 5, would be conducted from 9am until 5pm at the centre.

He reminded the recipients not to clamour for their aid as they had given ample time to collect the assistance.

“The recipients can come and collect their aids until next Tuesday (Feb 5). Thus, they don’t have to rush and create a situation over crowding and inconvenience for themselves.”

He also suggested the district office to announce the names of the recipients through radio.

Such an effort, he said, will ensure the recipients come to the centre and claim their BR1M accordingly at the given dates.

Also present were Miri District Officer Boniface Apat Intang and Miri Police chief ACP Mun Kock Keong.
