Kapit futsal competition

KAPIT: The South Neighbourhood Committee has organized a Pre-Chinese New Year Futsal Competition from 1-3 Feb at the Bletih Stadium.

A major objective was to promote racial integration and neighbourliness in the community.

“Sport is the best tool to bring people together and futsal is one of the most common games played. While we encourage active outdoor game, we also bring people together to promote understanding, friendship and healthy competition to instill good discipline and team work”, said the chairman of the committee Ma Tian Hee.

Organizing chairman Ronald Jampong Kalat reported that twenty teams are participating in the competition.

Teams which emerge champion, runner up and third place are to receive cash prizes of RM 1000, RM 500 and RM 300 respectively.

Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit officiated at the kick off on Friday evening.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Kapitan Yong Thu Fook, Chinese Chamber of Commerce chairman Yong Hua Sying and South Neighbourhood Committee secretary Sng Geok Yien.
