SIBU: A total of 15 records were rewritten but it was state swimmers Alex Tiong Sie Hung and Nee Gui Ping who stole the limelight as both of them dominated the Sibu Division Inter-Schools Swimming Championship which entered its third day.

Of the 15 records, Alex of SMK Sacred Heart secured six in the Boy’s A category while Gui Ping of SMK Chung Hua chalked up five in the Boy’s C category.

Both of them are also gunning for the title of Best Performance (Boys).

Alex, who took part in the Pahang Sukma, rewrote records in the 1,500m freestyle (15:59.83”), 50m backstroke (29.25”), 100m freestyle (55.47”), 200m Individual Medley (2:15.93), 100m Butterfly (59.07”) and 200m backstroke (2:17.40”).

Fast rising star Gui Ping broke new records in the 50m backstroke (33.47”), 200m breaststroke (2:50.47”), 100m freestyle (58.08”), 200 Individual Medley (2:27.72”) and 100m butterfly (1:01.63”).

In the Boy’s B competition, Ngu Jiung Wei of SMK Chung Hua created three records when he came up with new times in the 100m freestyle (56.82”), 200 Individual Medley (2:21.43) and 100m Butterfly (1:02.41”).

Cindy Sui of SMK Methodist is the sole record breaker among the girls thus far.

She won the 50m breaststroke in the Girl’s B category with a new time of 38.51” to erase the record of 38.92” set by Su Siew Jin in 2006.
