Most M’sians understand govt’s efforts towards fostering racial unity — Hishammuddin

MELAKA: The majority of people understand the government’s efforts towards fostering racial unity in the country through the implementation of various initiatives, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

He said because of this, they also rejected the actions of certain quarters who were trying to incite hatred for the government by spreading lies and encouraging provocation.

“This is not our culture and practice, as the majority, we reject the attitude of these people who are the minority,” he told reporters after attending the launch of the Melaka-level ‘My Beautiful Malaysia’ programme in Batu Berendam here yesterday.

Hishammuddin   said the culture of slander and provocation by these groups included involving sensitive issues and would continue up to upcoming 13th general election.

He said the police would conduct investigations in a transparent and just manner to book the culprits to ensure the situation did not get out of hand. — Bernama
