LAWAS: There are signs that the people of Ba Kelalan are frustrated with the unfulfilled promises of the opposition and would be returning to the BN’s fold in the impending 13th general election.

Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong said he was told that PKR had failed to fulfil their promises or solve the people’s problems ever since winning the seat in the last state election in April 2011. “We sympathise with our Ba’kelalan brethren, but the choice is in their own hands. We hope they would be supporting the BN in the coming general election,” he said when met after presenting Chinese New Year goodies and angpow to 10 less fortunate Chinese families here yesterday.

On the BN election machinery, Sum said all BN component parties had crucial roles to play to ensure Lawas remained with the BN in the impending polls.

“This family spirit of the BN has made Lawas in particular and Sarawak in general a BN fortress.”

He cautioned that no BN component parties should not work independently but must remain united to remain strong.

Meanwhile, SUPP Lawas chairman councillor Liaw Ho Peng said the party’s machinery was ready for action here.

“We are committed and are aware that only the BN can help the people,” he said.

Liaw also took a swipe at a recent allegation that Bukit Sari assemblyman and Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan was plotting to topple Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

“It is such an uncivilized accusation. We know Awang Tengah ever since he was young. His humility, sacrifices and good heart touched us all. He is not one after self interest.”

Liaw challenged his (Awang Tengah) critics to come to Lawas to find out the truth from the locals.
