KUCHING: Distribution of BR1M vouchers at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Indoor Stadium yesterday was calm and orderly even as recipients came in droves and created the inevitable traffic congestion.

SUPP Youth Chief Tan Kai said that there were 5,910 recipients and some came as early as 6am to head the queue.

Wheelchairs were on standby for physically disabled recipients, while members of People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and other ground staff ensured a smooth flow of human and vehicular traffic.

ORDERLY: The queue inside the stadium proceeded in an orderly manner.

“We expect the distribution today to end at around 4pm,” sid Tan. “Those who still need to check the status of their application can do it on SUPP’s website, which carries a full recipient list.”

The distribution is expected to continue throughout the week with Pending residents today, followed by Batu Lintang, Kota Sentosa and Batu Kawa.

There are around 26,000 BR1M recipients in Kuching, with 11,000 of them in Bandar Kuching and the rest from Stampin.
