KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman held an informal discussion with the US Ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Paul W. Jones, at his office in Wisma Innoprise yesterday.

Among the issues discussed were possible areas of cooperation in tourism and education, namely exchange programmes between Sabah and the United States.

“I love Malaysia. It’s fantastic. I’ve had a great time here so far,” said Jones who briefed the Chief Minister on his itinerary while in Kota Kinabalu, which include visits to the five schools that have been selected to participate in the Micro Scholarship for the English programme.

Jones also spoke briefly of US interests in Sabah, including the USD2 billion investment in lobster farming by US giant Darden Inc. off the coast of Semporna.

Meanwhile, Musa said he looked forward to greater cooperation in Sabah’s three key economic sectors of agriculture, manufacturing and tourism and to more investments from the United States, especially from Darden Inc.

“Sabah has lots more to offer to investors from the US, a lot of prospects in tourism and hospitality or hotel industry,” he said.

Musa added Sabah welcomed foreign investors as long as they were genuine and capable and could bring investments that would create economic spinoffs that benefit the people.
